With the international trading landscape changing significantly over the past few years, providing the correct customs data is more important than ever.

Electronic Customs Pre-advice Data

It is now mandatory to provide electronic customs pre-advice data when you ship abroad. Royal Mail shipping solutions will generate a CN22/23 as part of the booking journey. Whilst Royal Mail shipping solutions will generate this documentation you are not required to attach this to the package for this service.

As part of this service, you will be required to provide a sender EORI which is necessary for returns/re-import.

Some countries are applying penalties and delaying or returning items that are sent without the required and accurate electronic data. Use one of our data-compliant shipping platforms – Click & Drop, Pro Shipping or API shipping – to automate this process and take the stress out of electronic customs.

Why are we asking you to provide electronic customs data?

Electronic customs data is required to make sure that existing, emerging, and future legislative, security and customs requirements overseas are met. Customs information must be completed accurately and in full. This will include the sender and recipient information and details on the contents within the parcel. Doing so can help enable a more efficient customs clearance process abroad and lead to faster delivery times.

Are there any additional customs fees for using this service?

When using the Delivered Taxes Paid Delivery Term, there will be a 5 Euro clearance fee per consignment. When sending to Ireland this is 1.5 Euros.

There are certain items that we restrict or prohibit from our network. You are advised to carefully read the restrictions on our prohibitions and restrictions guide.

When using our International Business Tracked Priority service, additional prohibitions and restrictions will apply alongside those listed on this page. Please see herepdf, 131.59 KB for further information.
