Cobrowse FAQs
1. What is Cobrowse? Cobrowse is a tool that allows you to share your computer screen with us while speaking to one of our advisors. This helps the advisor guide you through any practical steps and resolve your enquiry quickly and easily.
2. How does Cobrowse work? We’ll send you an email with instructions. The email includes a link to our Cobrowse webpage where you can click to start a Cobrowse session. The webpage will generate a unique 6-digit code. You’ll need to provide this to our advisor so they can create a secure connection and start the sharing session.
3. Do I have to download or install anything to use Cobrowse? No, you don’t have to download or install anything onto your computer. When you start a sharing session, your computer may prompt you to enable a function already present in your internet browser so that Cobrowse will work.
4. Is Cobrowse secure? Yes. Cobrowse uses technology provided by Oracle and is an industry-leading solution used by many businesses and customers around the world. No customer data will be captured or stored during your Cobrowse session and the session is fully encrypted. Cobrowse does not give us control of your computer and you can end your Cobrowsing session at any time. More information about Cobrowse and Oracle’s security standards is available here.
5. What information will Royal Mail be able to see? – We’ll only be able to see what you have displayed on your computer screen. Please remember to close or minimise any confidential or personal information you don’t want us to view.
6. Will Royal Mail be able to control my computer remotely? – No, our advisors won’t be able to control your computer. They can only view what’s displayed on your screen. Our advisors will be able to move an arrow on your screen to guide you, but they can’t click or access any of your links or files.
7. Will Royal Mail take screenshots of my computer or capture any data? – No, we’ll never take any screenshots or copy any information from your computer.
8. What happens after my Cobrowse session has finished? At the end of each session, you’ll be advised to disconnect and you’ll see a notice that says ‘Session Ended’. We’ll no longer be able to view your screen and cannot see it again, or start another session, without repeating the set-up process. Cobrowse will not leave any files or data on your computer.
9. What if I have problems using or setting up Cobrowse on my computer? Sometimes your computer settings may need to be changed to allow Cobrowse to work. For example, your internet browser may not allow pop-ups, or your business firewall settings might block the connection. If you have any problems of this nature, please contact your own IT support. Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide support or guidance about your own IT systems.
